A new year is upon us, resolutions have been set and the 44th President of the United States, the first African American as President, was sworn in yesterday. We as individuals and Americans have a new-found inspiration to better oneself, and take on a new direction. I want to touch briefly on how I become inspired most of the time as a photographer ( nature, or otherwise ), and what direction I hope to take with that photography in 2009.
I was talking with a friend the other day who had recently come back from Jackson Hole, Wyoming . That person stated that they went into some galleries in the area by some well known nature photographers , rattling off names of this person and that. This individual asked if I had heard of any of these photographers, and I said that I had. They then proceeded to ask me what I thought of their photography, and I stated it was nice, BUT it was pretty cliche. It was the same stuff, over and over, nothing I had not seen before millions of times over. Which lead me to some inspirational notes for my 2009 shooting year - try and be more creative and produce work out of the norm, not like everyone else! Be out in nature as much as possible, for truly that is what inspires me - with or without my camera!

A New Year, A New Start to Photos & Life , & a Blog
Well, I never in my wildest dreams thought it would get to this point - ME, blogging!, Blogging seems to be the trend now days amongst photographers and I thought it might be a good way for you to see what is happening with my photography. While I'm posting, don't be surprised for me to throw in some tidbits about what is happening in my life along the way or what I am thinking. I believe that what influences you in your day to day life has a tremendous effect on how you perceive and approach your photographs. My goal with this blog will be to post once a month minimum!
The month of December has been a busy one for me this year. Print sales of my nature work have been brisk and I've been fortunate to be commissioned on two projects. Also throw into the mix a handful of portrait sittings, negotiations on having permanent displays and work for sale in some area retail establishments, working my real job which pays the bills and a search for a stock agency to represent my work - you'll soon realize, as well as I have that there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done!. Hopefully this trend will continue through 2009!
Starting in January and running through the first of February I will be the exclusive exhibitor at United Bank located in downtown Evansville, Indiana. I will also have a partial display of work in my hometown ( Olney, Illinois ) Fine Art Traveling Art Exhibit, where I will be at Steven Chiropractic Clinic for the entire month.
Check back next month to see a partial list of where you can see my work during the remainder of the 2009 season as I begin to apply for Artisan shows and exhibits.
Until next time..............................
